About

I am a life long learner who loves to learn and to share what he is learning. That’s why I have started this personal blog to share insights, and as a place to put my thoughts and those of others for us all to grow. For the way God has wired me that keeps me “On Purpose”.

About 20 years ago I read a book called, “The On-Purpose Person”. It had the picture of a light switch turned on. Kevin McCarthy the author taught me, “Everyone has a purpose as individual as their own finger prints.” God wired me to learn, to lead and to laugh. All three are part of my being “On Purpose.”

Since 1997, I have served as Senior Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa, CA. I have been married since June 1984 to Sharon who I lovingly call, “Beautiful Sharon”. We have 2 daughters, Laura and Dana, who have taken the best of their parents and are living their own lives “On-Purpose.” Living in the San Diego area with Sharon and serving at Christ — La Mesa, well, every day is “another day in paradise.”

With this blog my desire is to build lives and help people discover their God-given purpose. Join the conversation. Together let’s learn more about “on-purpose” leading along the way.

  1. I have a question for you: Do you think that God shows us inspiration directly, or do we see a form of his love and we perceive it to be inspiration?
I asked my very close friend this the other day, and I was told to ask it to as many people as possible. They said thinking about it brightened their day, and to my surprise, I agreed to share this thought.
    I’m just curious. 🙂

    • Good curiosity. God shows us inspiration through His Word. I also believe He provides “promptings” to guide us in life. And of course when we see His love in action in the lives of people and especially through the cross of His Son Jesus, we are forgiven and inspired to love others.

  2. Thank you for your response. I thought a lot about your response, and I agree. He does inspire us to a great extent, and I think that is the main form of our curiosity. When we become more aware, and we think we’ve figured out what we are seeing, then that just creates more questions. But, to a certain extent, we will never truly become fully aware.
Again, thanks for your response. 🙂
    Happy Valentine’s Day.
