Ken Blanchard is best known for “The One Minute Manger”. While experiencing the overwhelming success of that book, he discovered and met the best leader who ever walked the face of this earth: Jesus!
“Am I a leader? Leadership is a process of influence. Anytime you seek to influence the thinking, behavior, or development of people toward accomplishing a goal in their personal or professional lives, you are taking on the role of a leader.”
I love this quote because it lifts up how everyone is a leader. John Maxwell defines leadership as influence. If you influence someone, you in a sense are their leader.
The teacher who influences learning and knowledge in her students. The friend you influence to go see a life changing movie. The child you patiently raising (though it may feel like you are running on empty). The co-worker you help finish the project. The blog writer who influences readers to discover the God who loves them and has a purpose for their lives (that’s why I write).
The answer to the question, “Am I a leader? is Yes! The next question needs to be, “Who am I leading? And the 1st person you lead should be yourself. The model you follow is Jesus. The goal is lead like Jesus.
Where do you find yourself leading today? Who are you leading? And perhaps best of all, how are you leading like Jesus?
