Leadership Lessons from Colossians: The Original Theory of Everything

From Archimedes to Einstein to today, scientists have searched for the Theory of Everything. Some great theory will pull everything together.

Reading through the Bible this year brought me to Colossians 1, and Paul’s original theory of everything. Look at what he says about Jesus in Colossians 1:15-17, 15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16He created all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible. Whether they are kings or lords, rulers or powers—everything has been created through him and for him. 17He existed before everything and holds everything together.

He holds everything together. The original theory of everything that Paul postulates points back to Jesus. When life is falling apart, He holds everything together.

When the economy looks like its going down again, He holds everything together.

When your sick and tired of being sick and tired, He holds everything together.

When relationships implode, He holds everything together.

And when life is sailing along, everything is clicking, you are in the zone and the San Diego Chargers win, just remember He holds everything together.

Where do you need to remind yourself that He is holding everything together for you today?

  1. The protein Laminin, which helps to hold us together, is shaped like a cross. And the X-core at the center of the universe resembles a cross too. So from the molecular level to the cosmic level, Jesus holds us together.
