Soul Food for Friday: Favorite Quotes from the Leadership Summit 2010

This week’s soul food for Friday features quotes from the Leadership Summit 2010. The Summit is my favorite leadership conference of the year. 1 week to go until the fun begins for the Leadership Summit on August 11-12.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from last year’s summit:

“Imagine if we lived radical lives of faith that were in alignment with what we profess to believe.” – Christine Cain

“It’s about the journey – mine and yours (and ours together) – and the lives we can touch, the legacy we can leave, and the world we can change for the better.” – Tony Dungy

“My main job was developing talent. I was a gardener providing water and other nourishment to our top 750 people. Of course, I had to pull some weeds, too.” – Jack Welch

“Whether you prevail or fail, endure or die, depends more on what you do to yourself than on what the world does to you.” – Jim Collins

“The challenge of the believer is to take the faith that you got in here and take It to the place out there.” – T. D. Jakes

“Develop a healthy intolerance for those things that have the potential to impede your progress toward what could be and should be—those things God has put in your heart to do.” – Andy Stanley

“Every leader knows the power of temptation and every church faces the possibility of a leader who succumbs. We must help our people resist temptation and at the same time be prepared in the event a leader falls.” – Adam Hamilton

“You are not where you once were. You are not where you’re going to be. You are in a confusing zone. Welcome to The Land Between.” – Jeff Manion

“Personally, I’ve never understood inactivity. Why a person would sit when he could soar, be a spectator when he could play, or atrophy when he could develop…is beyond me!” – Bill Hybels

I have a hard time picking my favorite from that list. Tony Dungy on legacy and Bill Hybels on soaring feed my soult today. How about you? What’s your favorite quote from above?
